The Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences organised a 3 days training programme on “Scientific Piggery Production for Sustainable Income Generation” from 13th to 15st March 2024 at Livestock Farm in Collaboration with AICRP on Pig. The programme was attended by 20 tribal farmers from different villages of Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hill districts of Meghalaya. During the training programme, the farmers were given technical knowledge on scientific piggery farming, which comprised important topics like housing, feeding, breeding, deworming schedule, vaccination schedule and farm management. During the programme, 20 piglets along with vitamin and mineral supplements were distributed fee to the trainees. The training programme was funded by Tribal Sub Plan fund of the institute. On successful completion of the training, all the participants were provided with training certificates. The training programme was successfully conducted with the active participation of Dr. Gautam Khargharia (Chief Technical Officer), Dr. N. Suraj Singh (SRF), Dr. Elone Lucy (SRF) and Dr. Ethman A Marak (YP-II). Dr Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist, and Dr. Rahul Katiyar, Scientist were the Course Director and Co-Course Director for the training programme respectively.
